KANIKA PANTHEON HOTEL 3*

The hotel is clean, not necessarily new (facility wise) but elegant. It’s in the second row from the boulevard next to the promenade , still having a sea view from between the other buildings. The bathroom is clean, functional, not the least bit flashy. The rugs are a little bit used, but still fluffy. Haven’t tested the air conditioning. Few TV channels, but with pay TV (expensive). The room was furnished in a classical style, not opulent, very functional. It was cleaned every day and the bed linen and towels were changed once every 2 days.

We usually eat in a large pleasant space. Breakfast is served in a smaller room, with more light, and dinner in a fancier restaurant. You are asked not to come to dinner in improper garments (shorts, flashy t-shirts). The staff is nice. The employees are “international” (from Cyprus, Finland, India, Pakistan and many Orientals), not very young but this makes them somewhat classy. The menu is international, with British touches (for breakfast eggs and bacon, beans, sausages) but also divers for those who have different tastes. Overall, the food is tasty, and pretty varied.

I recommend you have at least lunch outside, in the restaurants and taverns.

He beach in front of the hotel is a public one, somewhat narrow. Due to the fact that cars pass so close by, it’s not the best place for sun bathing or swimming, there are better areas at the left of the hotel.

You feel that your opinion matters: on the last evening of your stay you get a detailed questionnaire to evaluate the hotel.

DOME HOTEL RESORT 4*

The Dome Hotel Resort 4* – Special hotel for families with small children

Hotel for families with kids. It’s on a magnificent white sand beach, with a smooth entrance in the water. The sea is of an incredible deep blue, just like a poster. The hotel has kiddy-pools, playgrounds and a staff that watches over the kid’s activities.

We stayed in a room – bungalow – a very good decision actually, because it was very easy to access the pools, play grounds and even the beach. The door opened onto a green lawn, just next to the pools.

The food didn’t stand out, nothing like Turkey. Still, in the big picture, it was really OK food-wise.
I recommend this hotel for a medium-budget family with kids that want to check out something else then your regular vacation.

PALM BEACH HOTEL 4*+

Palm Beach hotel – Clean, quiet – for sunbathing and relaxation

Super 4*+ Palm Beach hotel Larnaca.. Quiet, clean, great sea view, perfect Swedish buffet (we had breakfast and dinner, and it was more then plenty, because breakfast was served till 11.00 and dinner after 7 o’clock). The staff is very helpful, polite and nice, entertainment every night. Dinner outside, on the porch near the pool was just awesome.

Clean water, fish swam at our feet – about 30 meters away, the water barely passed knee level. You can rent a motor boat near the hotel, and the experience is totally worth it. As an extra-trip it’s worth trying the Zenobia submarine, a sunken ship. There are some bars close to the hotel, for those who are looking for good times: good cocktails, music and dancing. You can go by cab to Larnaca, but it’s sort of expensive – the vacation per se was pretty expensive, so was life there (1 Cyprus pound – 1.80 Euro).

What I didn’t like was the Neckermann guide, who refused to speak in any other language then Hungarian, explaining that she wouldn’t do that for 2 people (even though we were staying at the most expensive hotel of all the people in the transfer bus).So we took the extra tours with local agencies and we didn’t cough one bitJ.

In a nut shell, the hotel is great for a quiet vacation, beach and relaxation. For those who are looking for more excitement, I understand that Paphos is best. Larnaca seems more quiet, or maybe it was because we visited it at the end of the season.
